Wunderlich-Malec Engineering Inc. (WM), an Engineering News Record top 200 US engineering firm is excited to announce the hiring of Benjamin Lyons as the Business Development Leader of its Life Science Business. Ben is a strategic leader with twenty (20) years’ experience in life science, food & beverage and specialty chemical industries. His experiences range from designing and implementing BTEC’s digital transformation, leading ISPE-CaSA’s IT & Media committee, and building collaborative networks, all of which have helped to advance digitalization across the Life Science industry.

With extensive industry experience, and proven capabilities in networking and building relationships, he has supported customers in achieving their business goals through innovation and operational excellence.
Ben’s impressive educational and professional career included a 2005 cum laud B.S. Degree in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of New Hampshire where he also served as a Research Assistant. His past twenty (20) year professional career included Analytical Chemist at the University of Florida, Process Engineer at DuPont, Quality and Lab Manager at ENCON, Manager of Bioprocess Engineering NC State’s BTEC, and Senior Business Development Manager.
By building client relationships and leading cross functional teams he has assisted clients by:
- Delivering automation and digital transformation solutions, ensuring alignment with client needs.
- Leading teams of engineers and scientists responsible for preventive maintenance, calibration, automation, and IT systems with workforce training programs to improve laboratory and facility operations.
- Managing capital improvements, including a $1.5MM DCS conversion project, while providing direct learning experiences for client automation trainees.
- Developing and implementing process optimization projects, enhancing operator skillsets in fermentation, CIP, and automation.
