Project Methodology Lifecycle Model

Wunderlich-Malec’s project approach follows the “waterfall framework” methodology for project completion. In the "waterfall" model, each phase has deliverables that are reviewed and approved by the client and the client’s approval is a prerequisite to moving to the next phase. The phases are described as follows:
Planning
Wunderlich-Malec works with the client to develop an understanding of the project’s objectives, personnel, timeframes, budgets, etc.,
and develops a project charter documenting that understanding. The project milestones are established during the planning phase.
Requirements
The Requirements phase assembles project requirements and data. Site visits are typically conducted during this phase. The resulting Requirements Specification contains functional data and performance requirements that guide the system design in the next phase.
Design
During the design phase, the Requirements Specification is implemented to identify the project hardware and software. The project bid specifications and drawing set are completed during the Design phase. Bids are obtained and evaluated. Wunderlich-Malec provides a recommendation following bid evaluations.
Implementation
The Implementation phase includes panel fabrication and software programming and configuration specified during the Requirements and Design phases. The software includes the application system as well as code needed for transition and testing. Documentation produced in this phase includes User Operation Manuals, training materials and system technical documentation.
The system hardware and software are integrated and tested against the project design requirements. Software is simulated to ensure compliance with the defined requirements. The system is then available for client inspections and testing as part of the factory acceptance tests.
The control panels are field installed and wired. After installation the Site Acceptance Test is performed. Operators can be trained on the equipment either prior to or as part of the testing phase.
Commission
During the commissioning phase, the system is checked-out, pre-operational test runs are accomplished, formal start-up is completed and the process systems are placed into operation. Equipment and associated I/O and communications networks are confirmed during checkout. The system is turned over to the client once commissioning is complete.
Support
After the system has been commissioned, documentation is finalized. Operations and maintenance manuals and all drawings are turned over the client. At this point Wunderlich-Malec is capable of providing ongoing services. This could be as little as an annual check-up of the system or a 24/7 support agreement.
