Wunderlich-Malec has been installing radios for SCADA and process controls for over fifteen years. This experience has allowed us to migrate into broadband radio network design and implementation.

Broadband radios can be essential to the deployment of a security system over a wide area, where no infrastructure is readily available. Wunderlich-Malec has installed wireless networks for security applications using the 900MHz, 2.4GHz, 4.9GHz, 5.4GHz and 5.8GHz frequencies. These installations have included single point-to-point radio links to a network incorporating over thirty radios of various frequencies. Distances covered have been from across the street to across cities (more than 15 miles). What’s more, Wunderlich-Malec has designed and installed not only the radio networks, but also all the supporting equipment required for the networks to function, including emergency generators and a 290-foot tower.

CHALLENGE: Develop and install a broadband radio network to deliver video from nine outlying buildings to an existing video recording system in one main location.

SOLUTION: Remote buildings did not have line-of-site to the main building, so a radio signal from the outlying buildings was relayed through radios deployed on a 150-foot, aboveground storage tank.
