An important aspect of the design methodology at Wunderlich–Malec is the Project Database. A Project Database, as implemented by your Wunderlich-Malec team, improves accuracy and efficiency while reducing engineering labor costs. The result: higher quality services at more competitive rates. Rather than entering your process equipment and device parameter data by hand, your Wunderlich-Malec team will automatically extract and import your data with either P&ID or Process Flow Diagram drawings. Once imported to the Project Database, your data can then be used to meet the project’s automation requirements by generating:
- HMI database configuration
- PLC logic
- PLC database
- Simulation database
The project’s documentation requirements can be produced quickly and efficiently by using the Project Database to populate:
- Drawing title blocks
- Panels of assembly
- Electrical schematics
- Bills of materials
- Instrument lists
- Transmittal letters and more
Change management is also enforced with the Project Database, allowing multiple people to effectively work on the same project information. Exception and change reports are generated for HMI, PLC, drawings and instrument lists. Using either MSAccess or SQL Server relational databases with referential integrity ensures project data consistency.
The Wunderlich-Malec Project Database can be deployed to improve accuracy and efficiency in other ways as well:
- to track instrumentation data in ISA format
- to track the purchase, receiving and installation of instruments and equipment
- to write work orders and track preventative maintenance schedules by exporting it to populate our customers’ maintenance databases.
