PROJECT: Solar panel production facility, Hayward, CA

CHALLENGE: A new construction project requiring facility management automation hardware and software using industrial PLC based process control systems, but allowing for integration of commercial HVAC subsystems. The facility required a mix of controls for high volume air handling, toxic exhaust monitoring, central utilities, as well as office space control. I/O and process control functions were required to operate 24/7 in support of manufacturing.

SOLUTION: Wunderlich-Malec prepared a design/build package of Wonderware HMI, Rockwell Automation ControlLogix PLCs, Flex I/O subsystems, and integrated LON networks for Trane HVAC subsystems. From one central maintenance workstation, facility engineers can see the entire facility in operation, from the plant chillers and boilers to office space thermostats.
